Students who recently traveled to New Zealand with EF Educational Tours captured this Maori warrior performing the Haka, an ancestral war cry and dance traditionally performed in unison by a group of men before entering battle. The Maori are an indigenous group who make up about 15% of New Zealand’s population. Today the Haka is often performed at ceremonies and events in honor of guests and social celebrations. As the Maori would say, this photo is kauanuanu (awesome).
