Friday Fun Fact: Pilatus Railway

The Pilatus Railway is the world’s steepest cog railway and the easiest route to the top of
Mount Pilatus
—which was one of the settings
in Life on Tour Episode 2.

The railway includes a maximum gradient of 48 percent up to its station that sits near the summit nearly 7,000 feet above sea level. It takes about 30 minutes to ascend the mountain and about 40 minutes to descend.

Mount Pilatus, which looms over Lake Lucerne, gets its name from a popular legend that says Pontius Pilate was buried there.
