5,000 years of history

With written records that date back 5,000 years, China is one of the oldest civilizations in the world. As a leading power during multiple stages of history, this ancient country offers a lot to discover. Whether you dive into the history of tea during a traditional tea ceremony or experience the vast scale of the Terracotta Army in Xi’an, China offers something for both history buffs and curious explorers.

The warm welcome

EF traveler Liz describes everyone she encountered on her recent trip to the “Land of the Red Dragon” as “inviting, curious, and genuine.” With a culture so vastly different from western civilization, China offers your students a unique opportunity to get out of their comfort zone and immerse themselves in a world completely different from their own.

Spectacular natural sights

The natural wonders found in China will make you forget you’re in a country of 1.4 billion people. Throughout the vast land, there are many diverse sights for travelers to soak in. Some awe-inspiring spots include the Yellow Mountains, the Precipitous Pillars in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, and the Yuanyang Terraced Fields.

Food fit for an emperor

While varied across provinces, authentic Chinese food boasts the biggest variety of flavors and spices. Noodles, rice, soups, and dumplings are among the more well-known dishes. But, daring foodies will also be able to find fried insects, seafood, and hairy fruits. Chinese food is very fresh, and they often change their diet based on what’s in season. The food here is made to be eaten with chopsticks—a skill you can practice when you dine with the Hutong families on one of our tours.

Whether you’re trying a fried scorpion, engaging with local families, or exploring a rural town, China offers something for everyone. Check it off your bucket list on our China tours.
