Did You Know? Davos Edition

Nestled between the Plessur and Albula Alps of Switzerland there is a beautiful little village called Davos. While known primarily as a ski town, there is more to this city than snow sports. With stunning views, lush green scenery, and crisp mountain air, this small alpine town has a lot to offer.

  1. Davos has been home to the World Economic Forum since 1971. This annual meeting brings together heads of state, business leaders, economists, and journalists to discuss the world’s most pressing issues. Some past topics have included Responsive and Responsible Leadership, The New Global Context, and The Fourth Industrial Revolution. The forum unifies leaders from around the globe with one common mission: improving the state of the world.
  2. Sitting at 1,560m above sea level, Davos is the highest town in Europe. This makes for some spectacular views! Take the funicular up the Parsenn mountain, or hike to the Jakobschornbahnen summit and soak it all in.
  3. Davos has the largest natural ice skating rink in Europe! The rink is 18,000 square meters, which is equivalent to about three American football fields.
  4. The Bernina Express, a panoramic railway famous for its scenic landscapes, stops in Davos! The railway navigates through 55 tunnels and 196 bridges as it makes its way from Switzerland to Italy.
